The
club was originally formed in 1994 by three parents who were
looking to provide competitive football for their children,
having begged and borrowed equipment and twisted some arms
to generate enough sponsorship to buy strips. City of Durham
Boy's FC as the club was then known played their first competitive
eleven-a-side games in the Russell Foster League.
The club grew rapidly over the coming years
and in 1997 took its first intake of 7/8 year olds to play
in new mini soccer leagues. These children became known
as the City of Durham Boys FC (Junior section) and by 1999
the constitution of the club changed along with the clubs
name, now the City of Durham Youth FC.
The club currently runs 7-a-side teams and
11-a-side teams playing in the Russell Foster Tyne and
Wear Youth League and has some 200 registered players.
City of Durham Youth
Football Club aims to encourage local children from all
areas of the community to become involved in football
activities within a happy and secure environment. Like
many local clubs and societies the club is run by volunteers,
forming an executive committee, supported by dedicated
team of coaches, co-ordinators for each age group, parent
representatives, and volunteers who assist the club with
more specific roles such as treasurer, secretary, and
chairperson. There are many opportunities for parents
to become involved with the running of the club, and
support for social, fund raising and other club events
is critical to ensure that the club can continue to grow,
so please come along and get involved when you can.
Specific guidelines
are in place with policies covering the child protection
policy and procedure, coaching responsibilities, parental
and player responsibilities, code of conduct and the club
constitution. If you would like further information on
any of the above, or like to receive our club information
pack which also covers details on fund raising events and
sponsorship, our fees, or simply more information regarding
entry to the club, please contact our club secretary by
